Nesmíte však zapomenout na zákon: že úprava elektrokola umožňující asistenci nad 25 km/h není v souladu s nařízením EU č. 168/2013. Podle čl. 2 odst. 2 písm. h tohoto nařízení se jízdní kolo s elektrickým motorem považuje za jízdní kolo pouze tehdy, pokud má maximální trvalý výkon do 250 W a motor přestává pomáhat při dosažení rychlosti 25 km/h. Úpravené elektrokolo nesmí být provozováno na pozemních komunikacích.
